Flint pants and shorts pattern
Wide leg cropped pants or shorts with unique crossover closure at the side seam. Pattern sits on the natural waist and features hidden closure at the left pocket , release tucks at the front, darts at the back, slash pockets, two waistband options and two lengths.
View A is a pair of above ankle cropped pants with button closures. View B is a pair of above ankle cropped pants with tie closure. View C is a pair of shorts with button closures. View D is a pair of shorts with tie closures.

I started out thinking I would make a muslin or toile but then decided to try some denim shorts in case they turned out nicely and then I would have a pair of shorts. That's exactly what happened! This is a very nice pattern! The only issue I had with it is that I had to add one inch to the waist/waistband. I made the correct size for my waist measurement but there wasn't any ease from what I saw in the numbers on the pattern, and I can't stand anything too snug. But that's all I had to do. Even the crotch depth was perfect for me. I'm very happy with my shorts! Have not tried the long pants yet.
I made the wide leg Flint Pants from Linen and they were a great sewing project. The pattern is clear and easy to follow. I will definitely be making these Pants again, and more than likely the Shorts too.
I bought this pattern several years ago and have used it over and over. It is very well explained and easy to follow. The garment also fits well, and it is easy to adjust.
After struggling with a simplicity pattern that was both lacking proper instructions and sizes, I am grateful that pattern like this one also exists!
Can also recommend for beginners.
As with all the Megan Nielsen Patterns this one fits exactly as the size guide indicates. I found it really easy to make, and the result was gorgeous! Can't wait to make these in a linen cotton blend.
I’ve purchased three different patterns and already made two skirts and a jacket. The patterns are easy to follow and the sizes correspond to the measurements indicated in the size guide. I love all the pieces I’ve made so far, and I can’t stop wearing them. I highly recommend the Designer.
