So easy, gorgeous cut, fits perfectly

As with all the Megan Nielsen Patterns this one fits exactly as the size guide indicates. I found it really easy to make, and the result was gorgeous! Can't wait to make these in a linen cotton blend.

    Excellent patterns

I’ve purchased three different patterns and already made two skirts and a jacket. The patterns are easy to follow and the sizes correspond to the measurements indicated in the size guide. I love all the pieces I’ve made so far, and I can’t stop wearing them. I highly recommend the Designer.

Super easy and flattering pattern with so many variations

I bought this pattern a few weeks ago and have already made two pairs of trousers. My first pair was directly as the pattern shows, the second pair removed the pleats and made a tapered leg. The side closing is wonderful and I may make all trousers using this in the future.

I do think the pattern runs a bit big. That is actually easily fixed by taking in that the bum seam before putting on the waistband.

These are beautiful and pretty easy to make. I now have 3 pairs and they are a wardrobe favourite

    Genius

All my previous attempts at sewing pants had been total failures, even pyjama pants, and as for anything woven with zippers, ick, horror! Didn't fit, seams were dodgy, they were complete failures. I was after all this very scared of making pants. I knew I couldn't make skirts, though (skirts being too boring, cylinders or cones with holes at top and bottom; where's the topology?) and desperately needed something to pair with all the shirts I was making. Pants it must be. The Flints seemed like the least terrifying pants pattern on the internet that didn't involve elastic.

So I bought the pattern, even though I thought I would dislike the wide pants and the shorts. I made shorts using discounted linen from the Fabric Store. And those shorts are totally brilliant! I was intimidated by the 0% ease waistline and went a size up for the shorts; that ended up being a bit too much so when I got round to making ankle-length Flints in the same linen I went down a size. This time I did it with fusible interfacing in the waistband and on the pocket openings. I finished up the curved sides of the pockets with bias binding to keep them neat.

They are so fantastic. Glamorous, polished, and so unbelievably comfortable. The button closure and absence of a zipper is genius. The pocket with an opening in it is still functional, which was unexpected. I don't usually sew the same pattern repeatedly, but this design is so good that I think a third pair of Flints will appear before too long. Also - now having finally made pants that I actually like, I'm feeling much more confident and was brave enough to successfully tackle a pair of zippered trousers.

I'm converted to the wide legs. I thought it would be unflattering, but instead I look long and leggy. Sometimes the Flints have a touch of old Hollywood glamour, sometimes they are more folklorish depending on what top I wear with them. Another benefit of the wide legs and easy opening: recently I injured my knee while wearing my long Flints. Other times when this has happened the paramedics have needed to chop off my pants to get access to my knee. Not so with the Flints! They are intact after their ambulance and hospital ordeal, were easy to get in and out of, and comfortable to wear underneath a zimmer splint.
