Cottesloe hello!

A nice entry into the world of swimsuit sewing and a quick one too. It def fits snug so size up or grade between, especially if adding padding to the top!

Great for swimsuit beginners!

The Cottesloe is such a great pattern for swimsuit sewing newbies - the construction is straightforward with really clear instructions, including information on swimsuit fabrics and elastics. I've already made two and I can't wait to make more!

Amazing! Excellent instructions!

I love this pattern! I was very nervous to try my hand at swimwear, and was anxious about such a simple top since I typically need to have a lot of support up top (32H bra over here). I was pleasantly surprised that the fit and coverage is so good and I feel comfortable wearing it. The fit of the high waisted bottoms is exactly what I want out of a swimsuit. And I love the idea of hacking the simple style lines to create some extra unique options!
The instructions and the sew-along were incredibly helpful, easy to follow, and had so much great information that I was completely at ease even though I’ve never tried sewing swimwear before.
Now that I have a completely unique suit THAT I MADE, I have never been so excited for this year’s beach trip!

My Favorite Lap Suit

I'm a BIG fan of View B (one piece, high back with cups) version of this suit. I've been lap-swimming quite a bit lately and this gives me enough support and coverage for exercise. The instructions are very well written and straight-forward, even with multiple options. I've made four of these suits to-date using just a zig-zag stitch, so no special machines are needed. Since I'm 5'3" (160 cm) tall, I took in the straps and crotch seams just 1/8" for a better fit. Additionally, I increased the leg opening to be a little higher so my short legs look more proportional to the rest of my body. RTW one-piece suits are generally loose around the straps for me and I'm so happy to happy to have this pattern which can stand the rigors of lap swimming multiple times a week.
