From the moment I saw the Flint pattern I was intrigued. An unusual way of getting into them appealed enormously. As I write my review I’m wearing one of my four pairs of Flints. I have two long versions, one is in a rigid turquoise corduroy the other in a charcoal slight stretch light/medium weight denim. The two shorter ones are a beautifully comfortable navy/red slight stretch cotton sateen and my wearable toile which I made from an old poly cotton striped duvet cover. All of them are so easy to wear I just love them. The pockets are nice and big and even the left side that incorporates the nifty opening can hold a decent amount in its pocket. One of the many things I like about Megan Nielsen’s patterns are the vast database of help. There’s sew alongs, testers photos and hack ideas on the site, the Flint has all that help a click or two away, fantastic. There are some lovely features in the Flint. I’ve chosen to sew the button waistband on all four of my Flints but love the tie version too. At the moment I tend to use the Floreat top with my Flints so don’t feel I want the tie waistband disrupting the drape plus, if I’m being honest I have a bit of a body image problem at the moment (photos taken well before lockdown in the U.K) so don’t want to emphasise a waistline I’m not comfortable with by adding the bulk of a knot. I would like to try one of the hacks to make a narrow leg version at some point and maybe try a knee length hack too. Because I’ve gained some weight I’m starting to think the next pair will need to have a longer crotch to waist length but other than that all in all the Flint is a great pattern, it looks great made with a variety of fabrics and has fast become one of my staple wardrobe go to’s.

I have been wanting to make pants, but always felt a little scared to try. However, this pattern is so good with easy to follow instructions.
The sizing was also spot on.
I love the detachable overall bib attachment that is also available, as you get two different outfits.
