Surprise favourite!

I bought the pattern because a lot of people praised it and thought I’d try the. As well. Turns out the fit is perfect for me right out of the box and they are the perfect quick make. Lots of ideas for modifications as well.

Shorts just perfect

Exactly true to size, nice fit, good tutorial, quite easy and still looking great. Thanks for this pattern!

At last I sewed the shorts version

Having made two pairs of long flints and two pairs of mid length flints I finally got around to making the shorts version, this time for my daughter. I sewed them in a stretch peach feel woven fabric and should have sized down because the fabric is a woven stretch but I didn’t (silly me) They are extremely comfortable (as usual for these trousers) and the instructions are easy to follow. It’s still my ‘go to’ trouser pattern at the moment even after a few years. A little different than other patterns and stylish with those enormous pockets.

I’m in love!

I love this pattern so much! The instructions are simple and clear and the online resources are an awesome addition. The fit was spot on — I didn’t need to alter anything, which never happens! It sewed up quickly and came out looking awesome. I have had compliments already. I plan on making another pair of shorts and the pants and possibly the overalls too! Highly recommend!

Nice Trousers

I consider myself an advanced beginner sewist. I recently took up sewing again after a 25 year hiatus, so I'm relearning many skills. The Flint pants with bib overall add-on was my second project. Overall, the pattern is very good. The pieces fit together simply and perfectly. My only small complaint is that both the printed pattern and the online sewalong advise you to finish the seams with whatever technique you prefer. Even after reading the blog post describing various ways to finish a seam, I struggled. I definitely could have used more experience or more guidance for that. I sewed these trousers for my daughter after she could not find overalls that were long enough for her. I made several changes to the pattern, including: lengthening the legs, using a buckle instead of the tie waist closure, and using buttons instead of snaps to attach the removable bib--with the buttonholes on the inside of the waistband so that when the bib was removed, there is nothing that looks or feels different than the standard trousers. In retrospect, the trousers would have been fine as a second project, but my alterations made things challenging. It was repeatedly a case of "I know this can be done, but I don't remember how to do it." However, the pattern as written is very straightforward and the pants look great!
