It’s time to get packin’

2010-02-08 2

Well it’s very unlike me, but I haven’t packed my bag for the hospital. It’s like I’m in the twilight zone… Hubby has packed his bag, but I haven’t packed mine… what?? It’s like we’ve switched personalities!! Sooo I think I might need to get started on that today…

Only 2.5 wks till my due date… so really, the likelihood of baby coming in any given week in the next 4 wks, is about equal. Isn’t that crazy?? I keep hoping I’ll be early rather than late, but I better not set my hopes on it… you’ll probably see me still waiting around in a few weeks, just looking like a hefer!

We’ve had a cold for the last few days, which has been a real pain.  I feel bad for Hubby, because I was probably pretty whiney before, but then add on a cold too? poor guy! I’m sure I’ve told you all about my tendency to write lengthy, often unnecessary to do lists? Well I’ve had one of those full of stuff I wanted to get done before baby comes, and my Hubby did it all for me over the weekend while he was sick! What a guy! Now I feel super relaxed, and have decided my to do list for the next few weeks will be 1) pack bag for hospital 2) sit with feet up.

Awesome.

Meanwhile, the lovely Caley over at Favecrafts.com asked me to contribute my worst crafting disaster to a little feature they were doing on their blog. You may remember I’ve contributed tutorials to Favecrafts in the past, it’s a great little resource if you are a crafter. Anyway, you can read mine and all of the other bloggers answers here.

Little girl blue

2010-02-03 3
I don’t know what it is about these tights, but whenever I wear them I can’t help myself but make the rest of my outfit blue too. It’s not that I have some weird fascination with always wearing one colour… but there’s something about a completely blue outfit that I adore. As a side note, I’m really looking forward to being able to belt things on my waistline again… scratch that, I’m really looking forward to having a waistline again! Hehe. Though I know realistically that’s probably a few months away. Regardless, I really love this outfit. I think I wear this dress and cardigan together way too much, but whatever, it’s a combo I love, so here I am, very happily in a style rut!

Meanwhile, I’m having a really really bad hair day. Tragically bad. The problem is my bangs. I’ve been half heartedly growing them out and so right now they look, well, crappy. I used to have severe bangs that required straightening every day, and I just can’t be bothered with that anymore… plus I very vainly believe it made my face look fat. What’s a girl to do? I’m totally lacking in hair inspiration at the moment. I know I want to change my current style, but I’m really stuck as to what direction to go in. Oh I’m such a complainer how do you put up with me!! Anyway for now I turned to the fabulous Mademoiselle Robot and an unbelievable easy tutorial she did on french braiding a headband from your bangs. I should have taken a better photo of how mine turned out, but I really really like it! I think this might become a bad hair day staple for me.

And thanks to everyone for weighing in on our little cuddly toy debate! That poor little teddy is getting it’s butt whooped by the giraffe! Hehe.

Giraffe or Bear? It’s a popularity contest

2010-02-02 Giraffe or Bear

Hubby and I want to give our little boy a cuddly toy to sleep with when he arrives into the world, but are having a huge amount of trouble deciding between these two ridiculously cute options. Bunny has an adorable little cat that she calls “Meow” – it was the first stuffed animal hubby gave her, and she goes to sleep with it every night. It’s way cute, and has been a life saver every time we travel. Sooooo we want to do a similar thing for our little boy.

Unfortunately we fell in love with both of these when we went shopping, and can’t decide which one to go with! Drama! So what do you guys think is cuter? Bear or Giraffe? Help! Vote below and let me know!

Which is cuter, Giraffe or Bear?

I guess it’s monday already…

2010-02-01 3

Gosh what a tiring weekend! We spent most of the time trying to get things all really for our little boy, in case he arrives early. I can’t believe how long it took to get the nursery all cleaned up. It’s amazing to me how a few months of not being used could result in so much dust! Thankfully now it’s all perfect and instead of being full of all of Bunny’s old clothing and things, it’s starting to get filled up with little boy stuff. Too adorable! And the really cool part is it’s making it all feel so real! I really don’t think he’ll be early, but anyone who knows me well knows I’m an organisational freak, and a total panicker – so being totally ready 4 weeks early is an absolute necessity for my sanity!

This scarf is one of my recent crochet experiments. My mom taught me to crochet when I was a kid, but like most kids I didn’t pay attention beyond learning the very basics, and now that I’m older I’d really like to get into crocheting and knitting again. So I bought myself some instructional books and have been working through all the exercises. Of course like anything, now that I’m actually paying better attention to it, I’m shocked by how much can be done with crochet. Anyway, this was a very simple project, but I wanted to do something small just to get my hands used to the feeling again. I’m not 100% thrilled with it, but it’s passable! The one thing I am happy with is that instead of closing up the ends of the scarf to make it a cowl permanently, I sewed buttons on one end. Which means now I can button it up at any point along the scarf to get a different look. Fun!

A hot chocolate date

2010-01-29 1

I’m pretty blessed to have a toddler as sweet tempered and good as Bunny. Unfortunately for the last week or so, she’s been a total grouch. I find that kind of hard to handle because I’m honestly just not used to having a cranky child! I’m pretty sure it’s related to teething, but regardless I thought she needed a little one on one mommy time today. So off to our favourite little cafe for a hot chocolate date!

We had a ball, and when we got home we made necklaces from big plastic fluorescent beads. I have to say, that’s got to be one of the nicest ways to spend a morning. And now that she’s down for a nap I can get to work packing up orders to ship. I think I’ve got a pretty great job :)

2010-01-29 3

So can you believe how big my tummy is? As of today I now have 4 weeks till my due date. I can’t believe it. Of course I’ll probably be overdue, so I’m trying not to get my hopes up about anything happening soon! But I’m feeling pretty jazzed right now, because so far I’ve only put on 25lb this pregnancy. To put that in perspective, when I was full term with Bunny I’d put on a total of 40lb – so I’m just feeling really encouraged and hopeful that it won’t be as hard to get back into shape this time.

Meanwhile, some of you gals have mentioned before how I must be cold in my photos… so I thought I’d lay your fears to rest and show you what I look like when I go outside, before I start snapping away. Coat get’s thrown off, snap snap snap, run back in the house! Voila! Though in all honesty, today was the first day I’ve actually felt cold outside without my coat (normally my general pregnancy heat keeps me warm). After coming back in I checked the temps, and it’s 0F (-18C)… hehe it all makes sense now!! It’s freaking frigid out there!

As a random side note, I totally need to clean these boots. When the weather was a little warmer last week and everything got a little mucky they got covered in gross mud, and I’ve been too lazy to fix them up again. Poor boots!!

I hope you have a really wonderful weekend!
