Love these!

I am blown away by how much I love these pants - I made the paper bag waist version and sized down one size based on other reviews (glad I did, but sizing down 2 sizes would’ve been too small). I made these as a comfortable WFH pant option that looks cute but is still elastic and they’re perfect for that. If I used a nicer/fancier fabric I would even wear them into the office. I will definitely be making more. I’m starting on a version of view B this week :)

My favourite pair of pants

I love everything about this pattern, including its versatility yet simplicity. The instructions are really clear and give you guidance about what to do if your waist and hip sizes are different sizes (which was the case for me). I sewed view A and cut a size 12 (but cut the waist elastic for size 8).
Normally I have to make a lot of adjustments for pants but all I had to do here was take 3 inches off the length (from the regular inseam length), scoop out the back crotch a bit (to accommodate my butt) and taper from the knee to the ankle (to remove excess fabric). This was a very quick and easy sew and I love the fit and how it looks on me!

Surprisingly versatile pattern

I didn't really notice how many different looking garments one can make with this pattern. But when you combine the different waistbands, pant leg styles and pocket options, they really add up. This pattern offers great bang for the buck. I've made the paperbag waist shorts shorter shorts with beltloops and belt, inseam pockets and back pockets; the longer shorts without paperbag waist or belt but with inseam pockets and back pockets; and the tapered pants regular waist, inseam pockets and back pockets.

My measurements would have put me in a size 12 but I made size 10 shorts and size 8 tapered pants. I had to add 1/4" to the thighs of the size 8 pants to make a perfect fit. Note that I used the size 10 back rise and the size 6 front rise for all pairs for my particular fitting issues. I'm just saying that the design is a little roomier than I wanted. I also felt that the back pockets were placed a little high and lowered them 3/8". However, all these are just personal preferences.

As usual, Megan Nielsen has the best fitting crotch curve out there!
