Wearing: Self designed dress form vintage pillowcases, vintage belt from mom’s closet, Sacha london flats
Gosh I can’t believe how long it’s been since I wore this dress!!! I guess sometimes things get crammed in the back of my closet and I forget they’re there! Saturday was so lovely, we went to a really great local farmers market, and then cafe pizza for lunch. Bunny is one hungry hungry hippo, she ate an entire slice on her own (to put that into perspective that’s how much I ate!).
Oh and check out how much the bunnies in our backyard are starting to look like bunnies!! For some reason these two decided to hop out of the nest and hang out for a bit before going back home… crazy bunnies!!! Meant I got to have a really great look at them though!
In case you were wondering I actually got quite a bit done from my to do list the other day!! Tidied the car, returned stuff to 3 different stores (still have something else to return that I can’t find the receipt for)… started the mammoth task of tidying my wardrobe… shoes are neat… stuff that doesn’t fit me anymore is in boxes… getting really close to neatness!

the maxi dress experiment
Wearing: Maxi dress from TJ Maxx, Sachi peep toes, charm necklace
I always see people rocking out maxi dresses… and I keep thinking, I want in on that!!
The problem is, I’m always very wary of buying fad items that will in all likeliness only last me one season. Which is why I got so excited when I found this dress in TJ Maxx. It was under $10. Now, to me, anything under $10 is a bargain. So I bought it. That was honestly months ago, and this is the first time I’m wearing it!!! Kind of wasteful!
One of the reasons I was feeling really nervous about wearing it was because of my height. I’ve always thought super long dresses only work on lovely tall ladies, with legs that go on for miles. And I couldn’t quite figure out what shoes to wear with it. I was lost!!! Nothing I tried seemed right, and so I just threw this dress into the back of the closet. But thankfully, my SIL gave me the kick in the pants and encouragement I needed to wear it. I really need to stress out less!!
And now that I’ve worn it out once, it doesn’t seem so scary anymore!!! So what do you guys think? Maxi dress do or don’t?
In other news, do you guys want a bunny update?
Seriously, aren’t they just too cute?? They’re really starting to look like bunnies!

dress confession
Wearing: CR nightie as dress, Sacha London flats, Vintage belt from mom’s closet
Yep I’m wearing a nightie… as a dress! My lovely SIL Annelise gave me this gorgeous Country Road nightie for Christmas. It’s so adorable!!! But like the crazy nut I am, I like it so much I want to wear it outside!!! Belted it, and now you can’t even tell!
It’s sooooo steamingly hot today, humidity has got to be around 100%… I straightened my hair this morning (if you can believe it!!) and as you can see I”m already little miss curly town. Oh well… I think I’ll save the hair straightening for winter!

And did I mention, we are super excited, because Bunny took her first steps unassisted!! She took 5 steps right across the room, from one couch to the other!!! This is the first time she’s done it without holding onto something else!! I’m totally jazzed… but also a little freaked out about how much harder my job is now going to be!
And speaking of bunnies, I can’t help myself but check on our backyard bunny family pretty much constantly. I blame hubby for making a hutch style arrangement which allows me an easy peephole. I’m a little worried that I”m getting way too emotionally vested… can’t help it though, I wear my heart on my sleeve, it’s the way I’ve always been :)

Hog Wild Days

Wearing: Gap dress, Misona sandals (gift from my MIL), Mimco headband (gift from Annelise), Sunnies from TJ Maxx
Last year we didn’t really take advantage of the summer as much as we should have. To be fair, I was pretty gigantically pregnant all last summer, and like any woman in her 3rd trimester I did not enjoy being in the hot sun! Of course once winter hit, we totally regretted not enjoying the warmth when we could have. Sooooo this year we decided to get involved in every single outdoor activity that our neighborhood offered.
Enter our little town’s summer fair… Hog Wild Days! It’s been going on since Thurs, but I guess today was the biggest day. First up we had lunch – for me that had to be sweet corn (covered in butter, yummmmm) and a corn dog (I live in Iowa, so of course I had to have everything corn related!), of course Bunny stole my corn dog and ate almost the whole thing. So adorable! But how that little belly can fit so much food I’ll never know!
Followed by icecreams whilst we walked through the flea market, checked out the carnival rides, got an impromptu model airplane demonstration, and finally we settled down in a nice cool tent listening to some live “toe tapping” music.
It was incredibly fun, and scorchingly hot!!! Can’t wait for all of the July 4th festivities to start!

The result of my creative process… Hello ruffle dress!

Dress by Meg, Background by God
And just like that it’s all over!! So after much-ado, here is the result of my pains… my ruffle dress!! What do you guys think?
Personally I’m in love, and I’m determined to wear it everywhere from now on… I’m really happy that I decided to go with this colour rather than the pink. I think it would have been a little too much look!
And I”m especially glad that I put in that big effort to get it all finished quickly this week… I’d been spending so much time on the pattern, and talking about the pattern, that I was starting to hate the dress before I’d even made it! But I nipped my crazies in the bud, and now I’m sooooo happy with my little dress. The really nice thing about drafting my own pattern, was that it fits perfectly. I think everyone should sew, it’s such an amazing hobby.

The colour really isn’t coming out well… it’s a very pale sage green, but looks rather beige in the pics. Ah yes, I am no photographer!!
But seriously guys, should I make another? Or is it silly to have multiples of the same dress in your wardrobe? I think I may go for a similar shape, in a print fabric, sans ruffles?
It’s beautifully stormy today… loads of thunder, and the clouds look amazing. I have to say that Iowa has the most amazing storms I’ve experienced in my entire life, and believe me I’ve lived in a lot of places! Sometimes I walk into a store and the skies are blue, and I walk out to a thunder storm. As I’m writing this the rain has suddenly started pouring… I feel the urge to run in it… it’s freaking awesome.
