MOPS

img_0390Wearing: Gap Tunic Top, Target Leggings, Sunnies from TJ Maxx, Sachi wedges, Long Champ Pliage bag, and later my David Lawrence trench.

I recently joined a local MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) group, which is pretty much a Christain mom’s group. Today was my second time, and it’s been really fun getting to know everyone! I wasn’t sure I was up to it this week, as I’ve been feeling a little off colour after all the travelling we’ve done in the last 2 weeks. Funnily enough, after trecking around 2 big cities while I’m preggers and with a toddler, I’ve learnt that I’m no longer a big city girl. Motherhood has definitely changed that about me. I can’t stop laughing about the fact that all the things I loved about cities before, and things I never noticed are now a major issue, and drive me nutso! Waiting an hour for food to arrive in a restaurant with a starving toddler is no fun, and neither is getting stuck in traffic during nap time, or the constant need to pay for parking! It’s poetic justice really. After all my whinging about missing the city, it’s just too funny to me that now I can’t stand it. I don’t think I’ve ever been more happy to come home! LOL!

So given I’m not feeling to crash hot I figured a breezy comfy top was a must. I’m not sure what this top is actually supposed to be (beach coverup, tunic, nightie??). I bought it on sale in Gap Body last time I was pregnant and it’s kind of become a pregnancy staple for me. And for some reason whenever I wear a really billowy top I feel like I need something skinny on the bottom to compensate for the overwhelming proportion, hence I cracked out the leggings again!

Of course, winter is coming early in Iowa, so I had to pop on the trench just before I walked out the door to avoid freezing to death (slight exaggeration).

After all that the day is shaping up quite well. I’ve gotten started on my winter coat, and by started I mean I layed out the pattern pieces on the fabric, and now I need to cut it out. But I can’t seem to get motivated to do any more until my interlining arrives in the mail. I’ll let you guys know more about it as I start sewing! Hope it’s warmer for you wherever you are :)
