I’ve been refashioning again!!
Ok I’m seriously loving this dress!!! It’s actually my first refashion in way too long… as you know I’ve been taking a little sewing break… though I haven’t actually been able to stick to that very well. Hubby keeps saying “Meg I thought you were relaxing, why are you sewing??” – I’m such an addict…
Anyway, this was an easy one it started out as a Witchery tank/singlet top (has anyone noticed my obsession with Witchery tank tops??) which I loved initially, but It was just wayyy too many stripes for a whole top. I always wanted to wear it and pretty much never did… but I had visions of a cute nautical dress. So I cut it off at waist length, added some jersey fabric from my stash for the skirt and used a really wide elastic for the waistband. I really LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out!! It kind of has the feel of wearing a high waisted skirt with a tucked in top, you know?
So do you guys like it?
Oh and I also made this adorable little hair clip for Bunny (which I then decided I liked so much I wanted to wear it) from some leftover fabric from a dress my SIL Annelise made when she was here for Christmas. There were only tiny pieces left, but it just didn’t feel right to throw it away (as you know I’m a sentimental sap!). Meanwhile I’m sooo unhappy about the fact that the sunlight is making it look like I have grey hairs. yikes! I hope there are many more years before that happens!
Well hopefully off to the splash pad again today with a group of lovely mommy’s from my church (I love how we get to have girl chats while the kiddies run around). It’s a little chilly out for my taste right now (as you know I love the heat), so I’m just hoping it warms up enough to make it worth it to go splash in cold water!! Oh and in case you are confused because the picture looks so sunny, I took it yesterday when I made/wore the dress!

It’s a dress??! Very clever, you fooled me :)
I think it’s adorable.
What a cute dress. It is nautical w/o being too nautical. Perfect!!!
OMG–I’ve been wanting to do this since seeing some of the dresses like this at Anthropologie!
Could you post a step-by-step? I’m intimidated by jersey fabric, but I really want to learn to sew on it because I’m a busty girl who needs stretchy fabrics. :)
Very, very cute dress!
Great dress! You are just so creative. I need you to come look at my leftover clothes that I don’t wear and tell me what to turn them into. I was gray by age 30!
This is definitely one my favourite refashions that you’ve done!
Cute bow as well, I haven’t been able to wear that dress for so long because it’s been really cold here and I kind of miss it!
Thanks Everyone!
AD- I’ll definitely do a how to for this dress :) Thinking i’ll make another and show you guys the steps as I do it.
Annelise – thanks!! I hope it warms up soon, your dress is way too cute not to wear!
I’d love a tutorial on how to make this!
Maybe sewing IS your relaxation!!!

[...] they were so cute that I found myself nicking them from her room so that I could wear them too! (If you want proof check it out here )… then I kind of went crazy and made clip after clip after clip, and a couple of headbands [...]
